[The Kiirik Pau] [Part IV - The Home Planet]
OVERVIEW | ||||
Name: Pau Type: Moon Population: > 2.000.000 Climate: Warm, tropical Pau is a moon, about three times larger than our own. It is circling a gas planet named Ireek Han. The moon has lush vegetation, a rich wildlife and a thriving culture. As it is surrounded by two distant suns and the large gas planet, Pau has no change of seasons or change of night and day. It is constantly summer and daytime.

The wildlife consists of mostly insect-like beings and a few mammalian species. The insects never appear to be smaller than fist-sized, while the mammals can be quite small. Egg-laying animals such as birds are non-existent; most flying and egg-laying animals are insects. The largest mammal on land is the makraa, an animal the size of two elephants; it is ten-legged and has green-and-yellow fur, but thankfully it is a herbivore. The smallest land mammal is the kiie, a tiny mouse-like being the size of a human finger nail. It lives off nectar and appear to lack eyes. In the water on Pau, you can find the paarak shu; the largest animal on the moon. It is a water-living insect twice the size of the blue whale, and they resemble crocodile-headed centipedes. They are carnivores, but thankfully cannot breathe above water. The smallest animal here is the piici, an animal that resembles a puff of fur with fins. They're popular pets, like goldfish, and while they look like they have fur, it's actually tiny soft spines which they use to catch food. The most important domesticated animal to the kiirik are the chteer bugs, a chicken-sized multicolored insect that lives in large hives. They are bred for meat, and their shells are used for many different things, including paint, medicine, household objects and even makeup. Their blood is a popular food condiment as well, even if it is highly poisonous. Kiirik have also domesticated several other animals, such as slim deer-like mammals used for riding and pulling carts, huge and bulky insect creatures that resemble a mix of an ox and a beetle for construction and heavy work, as well as farm animals such as the adhaa - a mammal kept for meat and milk. Pets are also quite popular, including a few kinds of insects, and topping the list is a mammal that looks like a furry facehugger with several round, beady eyes. They're called erees. Nearly all insects and mammals have kiipa stones, but they are seen as worthless in kiirik society. They're usually thrown away or used as household items.

Most important tree is the crystal tree, kiichi. These gigantic trees turn to crystal when they die, and these crystals are packed with immense energy. These crystals power everything on Pau, and a fist-sized crystal is enough to power a house for around five years. There are many other trees on Pau, as well as a multitude of bushes, flowers and types of mushroom. |
